Yosemite’s shuttle system, which carries more than 3 million park visitors between such famous spots as Yosemite Falls, the Ahwahnee hotel and the Mist Trail each year, is at best an annoyance during the busy summer months. At worst, it’s a safety issue.
The National Park Service promotes the complimentary shuttles as a way to alleviate increasing traffic in the park. But the buses are often overcrowded, as well as in disrepair, as heavy visitor use gets the best of the operation, said riders, drivers and park employees who shared their experiences.
