If you’re going to San Francisco Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair If you’re going to San Francisco You’re gonna meet some gentle people there For those who come to San Francisco Summertime will be a love-in there In the streets of San Francisco Gentle people with flowers in their hair All across the nation such a strange vibration People in motion There’s a whole generation with a new explanation People in motion people in motion For those who come to San Francisco Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair If you come to San Francisco Summertime will be a love-in there If you come to San Francisco Summertime will be a love-in there

vietnam or iraq/afghan/syrya/lybia/ ?
Thank you!!! This is a beautiful song about one of the most BEAUTIFUL city in the world which happens to be MY FAVORITE CITY.
I grew up during this period. It wasn’t fun. A war was raging in Vietnam and the economy was not good. There was no internet and no one was informed like today. Things are more expensive but people have a lot more choices today than back in the 1960′s and 1970′s. I would have lived my life totally different if I had the internet as I would have known that there were more options available to me. I dreaded becoming 18 as I worried I might be drafted.
45 seconds in, and I realize that the song will be over far too soon. I must listen on youtuberepeat.
On this day in 1967 {August 9th} Scott McKenzie’s “San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)” reached #1 {for 4 weeks} on the United Kingdom’s Singles chart…
Three months earlier on May 27th it entered Billboard’s Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #4 and spent 12 weeks on the Top 100…
It was written by John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas…
And Scott McKenzie co-wrote the Beach Boys 1988 #1 hit record “Kokomo”…
R.I.P. Mr. Phillips and Dennis & Carl Wilson…
very nice song
God what I would do to be growing up in times like these instead of now…
When I was younger I used to have hair that went down to my butt, and my dad used to put daisies in my hair a play this song for me. This song really takes me back.
also the year mom was born ;D
1967, the year this song came out and the year I was born. Peace and love to all !!
No reason to respond to the negative comments of those who weren’t there and wouldn’t have known what it was all about even if they had been.
The number of hits and likes that this great song that depicts an era has received, speaks for its self!!.
Nice tune. Nice memories. It’s just a shame it never came to more. Thanks for posting. Love n Peace Bro.
It would be like sacrilege to mess with this song, for me this defines the 60′s.
